Homelessness

Homelessness can affect anyone, for a variety of reasons.

Where possible we will work with people to try and prevent homelessness. If this is not possible, advice and assistance will be given to secure alternative accommodation.

When a person presents as homeless the council has a legal obligation to assess if they have a duty to secure temporary accommodation for them. Unfortunately not everybody who is homeless will be helped in this way.

If you are threatened with homelessness within 56 days, please contact the council’s Housing department who will be able to provide you with advice.
